Technical Requirements for Grinding Powder of Domestic Metal Polishing Materials

The Mohs hardness of alumina and chromium oxide is 9, cerium oxide and zirconia are 7, and iron oxide is even lower. Cerium oxide has high chemical activity and comparable hardness with silicate glass, making it widely used for polishing glass. In order to increase the polishing speed of cerium oxide, fluorine is usually added to the cerium oxide grinding powder to increase the grinding rate. Mixed rare earth grinding powders with low cerium content are usually doped with 3-8% fluorine; Pure cerium oxide grinding powder is usually not doped with fluorine. For ZF or F series glass, due to its low hardness and high fluorine content in the material itself, it is better to choose fluorine-free grinding powder.

Fourthly, the metal polishing material grinding powder has appropriate hardness and density, and has good wettability and suspension with water, as the grinding powder needs to be mixed with water

Fifth, the powder particles have a certain lattice shape, which forms sharp edges when broken to improve polishing efficiency.
